Introducing, our Transforming Living Room! Most of the time our living room looks like the photo above. This is our work table, which directly faces our couch (you can kind of see in the photo below.) Our dining table is more like a bar counter, which is cornered against the back wall (not pictured). It’s the perfect set-up for us two, but things get tricky when we have guests over. Do we all eat standing up? Sitting on the ground?
Finally we thought of a way to create a Dining Room. When we have guests over for a meal, we roll the rug against the wall and move the work table into the center, to create a Dining Room! Ta-da!
So far it still works, because we’ve only had one guest over at a time 😉 During movie nights, we move our couch against the wall (with the paintings) to face the TV. It sounds like a lot of work, but it’s actually really fast and simple. It also makes this little home feel much bigger 🙂
Prior to moving into this new space, we did a lot of research on small space living. If you know Shan at all, you know he loves his research; we spent countless hours reading different blogs and watching Ikea videos, to prepare for this next step in the best way we could. I’m so thankful we did! Do you have any small space living tips?
